If you are from Punjab, then you must have heard about the Bhagwant Mann 1000 Rupees Scheme. This scheme is officially known as Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. The Punjab Government announced it was led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on 8th March 2026, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Under this scheme, every eligible woman in Punjab who is 18 years or above will get Rs. 1000 every month directly in her bank account. And for women who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, the amount is even higher – they will get Rs. 1500 per month. This money will come directly to their bank account every month, no middleman, no hassle.

This 1000 Rs scheme in Punjab is a very big step for women’s empowerment. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema called it one of the world’s first universal cash transfer schemes for women. Around 97% of all adult women in Punjab are eligible for this scheme, which is much higher than in similar schemes in other states.

This scheme was actually a promise made by AAP before the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. And now in 2026, the government has finally fulfilled this promise by announcing it in the Budget 2026-27.

Who is NOT Eligible?

• Women who are working as current or retired government employees.
• MPs (Members of Parliament) and MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly) are not eligible.
• Women who are paying income tax are also not eligible for this scheme.

Financial Support Amount for Women

The Punjab Government has clearly fixed the financial support amount under Bhagwant Mann 1000 Rupees Scheme:

• General Category Women (above 18 years): Rs. 1,000 per month
• Scheduled Caste (SC) Women (above 18 years): Rs. 1,500 per month

Bhagwant Mann 1000 Rupees Scheme Apply Online Process

The registration for this scheme will officially start from 13th April 2026, on the occasion of Baisakhi. The online process will be something like this (once portal is live):

• Step 1: Go to the official Punjab Government portal for Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana (official link will be announce after 13th April 2026).
• Step 2: Click on ‘New Registration’ or ‘Apply Now’ button on the website.
• Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number and verify with OTP on your registered mobile number.
• Step 4: Fill the application form with your personal details, address and bank account information.
• Step 5: Upload the required documents like Aadhaar, Voter ID, bank passbook photo etc.
• Step 6: Submit the form and note down the Registration Number for future reference.

Bhagwant Mann 1000 Rupees Scheme Offline Process

For women who are not comfortable with internet or online process, the Punjab Government has also planned offline registration options:

• Door-to-Door Registration: Government volunteers and workers will come to your home in every ward, block and gram panchayat to collect documents and fill the form for eligible women.
• Suvidha Kendras / Common Service Centers (CSC): You can also visit your nearest Suvidha Kendra or Common Service Centre in your area and get your registration done with help of the operator.
• Sarpanch / Ward Member Help: In villages, women can also take help from their local sarpanch or ward member for the registration process.

Just carry your original documents and a photocopy when going for offline registration. You will get a registration slip after your form is submitted successfully.

Important Dates

• 8th March 2026 – Scheme announced on International Women’s Day in Punjab Budget 2026-27.
• 1st April 2026 – Scheme officially started, April is the first month of financial benefit.
• 13th April 2026 – Registration process to begin officially on Baisakhi.
• April-May 2026 onwards – Eligible women will start receiving money in their bank accounts after registration.

Note: Financial benefit is counted from 1st April 2026. So even if you register after 13th April, you will still get the benefit from April onwards. The government has not yet confirmed a last date for registration, so it is better to register as early as possible.
