Now the government of India going to give the new gift to the people of the jammu and Kashmir. The scheme is given through the launching of new scheme which is Jammu and Kashmir 200 Unit Free Electricity Scheme. This scheme is launched under Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana. At present the project report and tender is still prepared by the DISCOMs. Apart from 200 Unit Free Electricity Scheme the rooftop Solar system installation also be given with this scheme. After completing all the formalities this scheme is implemented in all the state.
J&K 200 Unit Free Electricity Scheme
In the recent assembly meeting which is conducted by the Government of J & K take the decision about to launch the 200 Unit Free Electricity scheme under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijali Yojana. The scheme is going to launched in this year and the rooftop solar system also be launched in the same scheme. By launching this scheme more than 2.22 Lakh AAY Families are going to get the benefits of the scheme. And every house will get the benefits of free installation of rooftop solar system of 2 KW. In this scheme the benefits is only given to the AAY families of the state.

Motive of 200 Unit Fee Electricity Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir
By giving the free 200 Unit Fee electricity to all the poor families of the state, the government reduced the burden of the electricity bill and they can also generate the electricity by installing the free solar free rooftop at their house. They can sell the electricity to the government and get the extra income. Apart from it, government also trying make the awareness about to use the extra power exemption.
Eligibility Criteria
- All the poor or low income families of the Jammu and Kashmir of Both Urban and Rural area of the state.
- All that Families who are living under AAY will be eligible for the scheme.
- To know your eligibility you can check your name in the AAY list.
- For installation of Rooftop Solar system, you also have Pucca Roof in your name.
What is J&K Fee Electricity Scheme to AAY Families?
The scheme is going to be introduced by the Power development department of the Jammu and Kashmir. The annlouncement of this scheme is made by the MLA Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh. All the AAY families of the state will going to get this benefits of free 200 unit of electricity and they also get the free installation of Rooftop Solar system at their home. The cost of the solar system will be paid by the Government under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Once the system is activated by the government then their free power units will be adjusted in their Electricity Bill every month.
How to Avail benefits of scheme?
- First of all, they have to verify the eligible beneficiaries i.e. AAY families in all district of the state.
- After they have to prepared the project report and tender which is submitted to the department.
- Then they select the qualified beneficiaries for the installation of Free Rooftop Solar system at their rooftop of 2KW.
- Contractor will visit to the house of the beneficiaries and then they installed the system. After it they also get the 200 unit fee electricity every month.
- Every month the electricity bill will be generated under the scheme.
