Eligibility Criteria For Prerana Utsav 2026

- Only Class 9 to 12 Students Can Apply – You should be studying in Class 9, 10, 11, or 12 in any school.
- Any School Board – Whether you are in State Government school, CBSE school, Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), or even Private school, all can apply.
- Age Limit – Students in these classes are expected to be aged 14 to 18 years.
- Indian Citizen – You should be an Indian citizen studying in any school in India.
- Good Character – The student should have good character and a desire to learn new things.
- Rules for Representation – The selection team will try to represent 50% girls and 50% boys, and also try to represent students from rural areas.

Important Dates for Prerana Utsav 2026
This is very important because if you miss the date, then you cannot apply. According to the latest news:
- Portal Reopened – The registration portal has been reopened recently for 2026 cycle.
- Second Cycle Start – The second cycle of Prerana program is scheduled to start in April 2026 .
- School Level Utsav – Schools should organize their Prerana Utsav as soon as possible and select 2 best students (1 boy and 1 girl).
- District Level Utsav – After school level, District Education Officers will organize district level program.
- Final Selection – The final selected students will go to Vadnagar in batches starting from April 2026.

Prerana Utsav 2026 Registration Online
The registration process is online. Here are the simple steps:
- Visit the official website prerana.education.gov.in
- Click on New Registration. Enter your personal details – name, father’s name, address, mobile number
- Enter school details – name of school, district, whether it is an urban or rural area
- Upload your achievements – choose from the list or enter in “Other” if not in the list
- Enter if you have any medical problems
- Submit the form and save your registration number
- If you encounter any technical issue, you can visit the nearest JNV (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya) and they will assist you in filling up the form.
What Happens in Prerana Utsav?
At the school level, your school will conduct one day named Prerana Utsav. In this:
- You will write essay or poem on subjects such as “Viksit Bharat” or “My Contribution to Society”
- You can draw, paint, or create caricature
- You can tell stories or sing folk songs
- The school will choose the best 2 students out of these activities
Then at the district level, 200 students (100 boys and 100 girls) will be selected from all schools. They will come to one nodal center (generally JNV or KV) and will perform more activities such as recording video, creative writing, and interview. Finally, 30 students will have a personal interview, and from that, 2 students (1 boy and 1 girl) will be selected for the Vadnagar event.
