To promote women empowerment and self-employment, in Andhra Pradesh government launched the Chai Raasta Scheme. This will help women become independent and self-reliant. The scheme is specially focusing on the women of self-help groups (SHGs) and the development of women and children in rural area groups (DWCRA). With the help of the scheme, women can start their modern tea or coffee kiosk business with a very low investment.
AP Chai Raasta Scheme
The first Kiosk was inaugurated by Nara Bhuvaneswari wife of CM N. Chandrababu Naidu. This Kiosk is open in partnership with the Mahila Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation Mission. This is basically a low investment franchise model that promotes hygiene, quality and technology-driven operations.

For example, they will use a gasless electric tea machine, which is very easy to operate and helps them achieve sustainable income and financial independence. In the AP Chai Raasta Scheme, the government help women to start their business and also helps them in providing training, machinery and bank loans.

Objective of Chai Raasta Scheme
- The primary objective of the scheme is to empower women and transform them into entrepreneurs.
- This scheme will also help to strengthen self-help groups and DWCRA groups by providing them with business opportunities.

- Only the Andhra Pradesh permanent citizens are eligible.

- Chai Raasta Scheme is operated on the franchise model, in which a ready-to-operate Tea/ coffee Kiosk opening with branding and other support will be provided.
- After opening the Kiosk, the estimated monthly earnings should be between 15000 to 30000 rupees.

Chai Raasta Scheme Andhra Pradesh Application Process
- For the application, you have to visit the MEPMA Office or the Municipal Corporation office.
- Take the application form and fill it in with the details asked for in the form.
- Submit your application form with all the necessary documents.
- When your eligibility is verified, you will receive a recommendation letter for a bank loan to cover all the Kiosk setup costs.
- The kiosk will be set up when applicants complete the training.
