Municipal Corporation has now increased the deadline to the 23rd of November for registering their dog on the new web portal. The registration drive was started in 2023. If you do not register your pet by the 23rd of November, then you have to pay a 5000 rupee fine from the 24th of November. According to the data, there are 1,80,000 domestic dogs in Chennai.
GCC has already purchased 2 lakh microchips for dogs, and 600 microchips will be implanted in community dogs every day. - Age: Puppies of three months are eligible for the anti-rabies vaccine.
GCC Pet Dog License Chennai Apply Online
- For online pet dog registration in Chennai, you have to visit the Greater Chennai Corporation website.
- Now go to the pet animal licence section displayed on your home page, and you will reach on the pet services section: chennaicorporation.gov.in/gcc/online-services.

- On the page, there are options like Pet Owner, department, veterinarian and support/ complaint. You have to select the first option pet owner.

- There is a new page open in which you have to select the option to sign up.

- To sign up, you have to enter your name, mobile number, email ID, address pin code and upload an address proof document.

- Now, when you sign up on this website, choose the option add pets and then enter your pet details. Enter your pet name, one photograph, breed name, etc.

- After that, click on the Apply for licence and then add the veterinarian’s details.
- Now pay the registration fee through online payment modes like net banking, UPI or card.
- When your pet dog is successfully registered on the Greater Chennai Corporation website, you can visit the veterinary for microchipping and ARV.
- After that, you have to upload proof on this portal.
- The approval process will take 24 hours. When you get approval, you will be notified through sms. You can download your pet dog licence from the portal.

- Chennai residents can visit their nearest GCC veterinary clinic and get the application form.
- Fill the application form with the owner’s and the pet’s details. Attach all your documents to the form and pay the registration fee.
- This process will take 1-2 days for completion. Collect your licence by showing your receipt.

- The licence fee for a pet dog registration is Rupees 50 per dog annually.
- The microchip and ARC at GCC clinics are Free. If you visit any private veterinary hospital, then it may charge extra.
