What is Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana?
This scheme was officially launched by our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on 18th February 2016. This scheme was started under the Department of Agriculture, the Corporation and the farmer welfare ministry of Agriculture. The primary aim behind the launch of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to farmers who lose their crop due to natural calamities (Floods, Drought, Hail, Pests, Famine and any Crop Disease).
With the help of the scheme, the government aim to give benefits to 50 crore farmers from all over India. The Government of India cover 50 different crops under the scheme. This is a very good initiative started by our government in which, if farmer face any type of loss in their crop production, then they will receive financial relief.

Eligibility Criteria for Farmers
- Only the permanent residents of India are eligible for PMFBY.
- Only farmers are eligible to take the benefit.
- The applicant should have a land on which he does farming and crop production.
- If any farmer has already received any type of compensation from any other government scheme or resource, then he is not eligible.
