Odisha Government Scholarship scheme for the students of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. Under this scheme, Students get a scholarship of up to 25 lakh for Study Abroad. This scheme is launched with the name “Videsh Siksha Bruti Scheme”. An official announcement will be released, and the official date of launch will be announced soon. This scheme was introduced by the state government of Odisha on 26 November 2025. This scheme is a Scholarship scheme that is going to provide financial support to all meritorious students who belong to the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe of the state. All the same category students who want to pursue higher studies abroad will be able to avail the financial benefits from the side of the government.

Odisha Scholarship Scheme For SC, ST Students to Study Abroad

This scheme is launched by the Higher Education Minister of the state, Mr Suryabanshi Suraj. He formally inaugurated the scheme on 26 November 2025. And now, after the announcement of the scheme is going to be implemented in the state from the next academic year, i.e. 2025-26.

Scholarship Amount

Every eligible and selected student will going to receive the scholarship amount up to Rs 25 Lakhs per year. This scholarship amount supports all students in their higher studies abroad. This amount is used for Tuition fees, Residential expenses and for study purposes. A total of 50 students every year will going to get this amount.

Features of the scheme

• Targeted Beneficiaries: This scheme is launched for the Meritorious students who belong to the SC/ST Category and have an income of less than 12 Lakhs. 
• Secure Admission in Top 200 Ranked Foreign University: In this scheme, students also secure admission in foreign universities in PG and PHD Level Programs.
• Application Invited Twice a Year: In this scheme, officials invite applications from the eligible candidates twice a year, i.e. you can apply in July-August and in December-January.

What are the Eligibility Criteria of the Scheme?

Under this scheme:-

• Students must be permanent citizens of the state of Odisha.
• Students who belong to the Schedule Caste and the Schedule Tribe of the state.
• The Families of the students having an annual income of Rs 12 Lakhs or below.
• Students must get admission to the PG or PHD Program in the Top 200 QS Foreign Universities.

Number of Beneficiaries Selected under the Scheme

As we all know that this scheme invites applications twice a year. So each year total of 50 students will be selected for the scheme.

• IN Engineer & Technical Education: Total 10 (4 for PG and 6 For PHD).
• In Medical/Agriculture, Architecture: 10 will be selected, of which 4 will be for PG and 6 for PHD.
• Other Technical Stream: a total of 30 students selected and 10 in PG and 20 PHD.

Videsh Siksha Bruti Scheme Odisha Scholarship for SC/ST Students for Study Abroad Apply Process

This scheme is going to enable OSHEC. With the help of this scheme, we can enhance the academic standard of the state. This scheme is going to accept the application form phase-wise. So every student who wants to participate in the scheme can submit their online form from July to August and from December to January. After the submission of the form, they will all be verified for their eligibility. This is the first time that Poor and brilliant students will be getting the financial benefits from the side of the government.
