Hello friends, today I am going to write about something that is very crucial for all of us families in Andhra Pradesh. The government people are coming to our homes for something called “Unified Family Survey” or UFS. Many people are confused about what is UFS, and why they are asking so many questions. I was also confused the first time, but I think I have a clear understanding of what is going on.
The Andhra Pradesh government initiated this survey from mid-December 2025, and it will continue until 12 January 2026. This survey is conducted door-to-door by the Village Secretariat and Ward Secretariat employees. They are conducting this survey using a mobile app for family information collection. You can check the status of completion on the official website unifiedfamilysurvey.ap.gov.in. The status report shows the number of surveyed households in each district like Ananthapuramu, Annamayya, Bapatla, Chittoor, and so on.

The primary objective is to form a single database for all the welfare schemes and provide the Family Benefit Card to the eligible families. If you are interested in checking the status of your family, you can visit the website and check. The survey is conducted through Aadhaar eKYC. Cooperation with the survey team is required when they visit your house. Helpline support is available if you face any issues.
What is this Unified Family Survey?
The government wants to prepare one big list of all the families in our state. Like in the old days, when every department used to keep a separate list of every individual in their department, like ration card, pension, scholarship, and so on. Now, the government wants to keep one big list of every individual in every department. That is why they are conducting a door-to-door survey. Some officer is going to visit your house with a tablet computer in their hands (no papers to fill, like before). They ask for your family members, Aadhaar numbers, education, employment, income, what assets you possess (like a bike, a TV, land), and even if you have a toilet in your house or not. If your survey is already completed, then check Unified Family Survey Report Online and offline. Both steps are explained in this article.
The survey has begun last week of December and will continue until January 12, 2026. So if no one has visited your house yet, they may soon. Better to prepare.

Benefits of UFS
- One Card, Many Schemes: After this survey, you will receive a Family Benefit Card. This card will combine all your benefits – pension, ration, scholarship, and even your housing scheme and so on. You won’t need to go to separate offices anymore.
- No Duplication: Many families were receiving the same benefit twice from different department. But now everything is in one system so that only real people get assistance. Your tax dollars won’t be wasted.
- Fast Service: The reason is, all information already in the government’s computer; therefore, there’s no need for you to submit the same information over and over again for every program. Time-saving!
- Open System: Everything digital now. Less opportunity for corruption. Officer cannot claim “your file is lost” since everything is on the tablet.
- Right Benefits to Right People: The government can identify who actually requires the help. If the income in your family is low, you will receive first preference. Even if you possess assets but are receiving the benefits, the government can modify them.
- Dashboard for Officials: This is a technical part. Government officials will have a dashboard on their computer through which they will be able to view everything on a single page – number of families survey done, number of benefits handed over to families, and which area needs further focus on. Therefore, planning will become better.
Documents Needed
- Aadhaar Card: This is a MUST thing. For all members of your family, including small kids. If you don’t have an Aadhaar Card, it is better to apply for it as soon as possible. They are doing e-KYC through Fingerprint/OTP Verification
- Ration Card: If you possess an older ration card, produce it. They will update your number in their system.
- Pension Card: For elderly people receiving pensions.
- School/College ID: For children, education-related information.
- Income Certificate: If you already possess one, you can produce it. Otherwise, they will require your income in an oral inquiry, but it’s always best to have some kind of verification in your favor.
- Bank Passbook: For the account number when you receive the benefits.
- Asset Documents: For example, if you have documents pertaining to bike, car, or land, they would include that as well.’ The reason you should not hide any information here is that they are capable of searching it on the
